Kenneth Copeland — Ready To Sow Part 2

24 Feb

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland

While I was in Ohio, God dealt with me about the television
ministry. At that time I could not understand, or see, with
my own mind how it would work financially, but I had learned
long before not to back off for this reason. I knew the Lord
could work it out. It didn’t matter how it operated or what the
financial details were, I knew there was only one way to succeed—
by giving. Then the thought flashed across my mind,
No man has given until he has given all he has,” and the first
thing I saw was my twin-engine airplane. Well, cold chills ran
up and down my spine! That little plane was my pride and joy.
I had tithed and believed God for it, and He had given it to me
as a tool of this ministry. Because of this, it really meant a lot to
me. Then I realized that I had to get rid of it. I couldn’t afford
to let it come between God and me, so I went into prayer and
the Lord said, “If you will realize what I am leading you into,
you will make an agreement with Me so that I can help you
financially. Make Me Lord over your finances.” That is exactly
what I did. I wrote out an agreement about the airplane and
used it to lay up a treasure in heaven for the time to come when
I would need it. I didn’t want to release that airplane, but I
knew that God would not take it without giving more in return.
My faith dictated that God’s Word was true, so I disciplined my
thinking to get in line with my faith (instead of my fear) and I
wrote out this agreement: “On the fourth day of October 1971,
I give my airplane to the Lord to be sold and the money put
into preaching the Word of God on television and in any other
manner possible.”

I made this covenant with the Lord according to Luke 6:38,
Give, and it shall be given unto you…again,” and Mark 10:30,
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time.” The agreement
also contained this statement: “I freely give this money
from the sale of the airplane, and I expect the return on it.”

Then I had the engines overhauled, had some maintenance
done, ran an annual inspection on it, and altogether spent about
$8,000 on a piece of equipment that technically didn’t belong to
me any longer. Since God is love, it follows that the laws governing
the power of God are the giving laws. You can’t stop
these laws and still make God’s power operate. It just will not
work that way! God’s system is really unique. He takes a person
who is absolutely destitute, provides the seed to start his giving,
then gives him the hundredfold return on what he gives. Only
God could manage or afford a financial operation like that!

I made the agreement to release my airplane in October
1971. Then on February 11, 1972, while we were holding a
meeting in Birmingham, Ala., the Lord instructed me to give it
to a particular evangelist. So that is what I did. This is the point
I want you to grasp: When God told me to give it away, I didn’t
hesitate for one moment. You see, God had set up this deal
almost four months before, and there had been time for me
to be healed of a possessive spirit where that plane was concerned.
Therefore, when God spoke, I acted and was thrilled
to do it! We flew it home and gave it away.

Kenneth Copeland — Ready To Sow Part 1

17 Feb

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland

While I was in prayer one afternoon during a meeting in
Dayton, Ohio, the Lord drew me to this portion of scripture
about laying up treasures in heaven where neither moth nor
rust corrupts. As I read this, the Lord said, “This rust and corruption
is inflation and depression.” If you will let heaven be
your financial reservoir—your bank and depository where you
place your trust—regardless of what happens to the world’s system,
you will always have more than enough! Then the Lord
said, “I did not say this treasure could not be used until you get
to heaven.” First Timothy 6:19 says to lay up for yourselves a
good foundation for the time to come when you will need it. A
heavenly bank is not subject to theft and ruin; it will always be
there when you need it.

Up to this time I was under the impression that when I
gave, I could expect the entire amount plus the hundredfold
return on it immediately, but there were times when it didn’t
work like that. I was confused, so I asked the Lord about it. My
needs were always abundantly met,
but I didn’t fully understand
what was happening. The Lord explained it this way:

“There was no use in My transferring money which you
had laid up in heaven to an earthly bank when you didn’t need
all of it at the time. When money is on earth, it is vulnerable to
Satan and to the world’s system of finance. If I gave you $1,000
today, in nine months’ time, it probably wouldn’t be worth
more than $750. You need to learn to exercise your faith in the
fact that you have this money on deposit, and when you need
it, all you have to do is call for it. Make your deposits with Me
according to the rate of exchange which My Word guarantees
and operate under My system of finance instead of the world’s
system. We can make it work at the current rate of exchange at
that time. It won’t matter if it takes a billion dollars to buy a
loaf of bread—I [God] can afford it!” If God can afford it, so
can I. He’s my Father!

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland

Isaiah 35:3-4
KJV—Strengthen ye the weak hands, and
confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that
are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not:
behold, your God will come with vengeance,
even God with a recompence; he will come
and save you.

AMP—Strengthen the weak hands and make
firm the feeble and tottering knees. Say to
those who are of a fearful and hasty heart, Be
strong, fear not! Behold, your God will come
with vengeance, with the recompense of God
He will come and save you.

Moffatt—Put heart into the listless, and brace
all weak-kneed souls, tell men with fluttering
hearts, “Have courage, never fear; here comes
your God, he will avenge his folk, here comes
God’s retribution, he comes himself to save
you!”

NIV—Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the
knees that give way; say to those with fearful
hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will
come, he will come with vengeance; with
divine retribution he will come to save you.”

2 Timothy 1:7
KJV—God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind.

AMP—God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of
cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning
fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power
and of love and of calm and well-balanced
mind and discipline and self-control.

Weymouth—The spirit which God has given
us is not a spirit of cowardice, but one of
power and of love and of self-discipline.

NIV—God did not give us a spirit of timidity,
but a spirit of power, of love and of selfdiscipline.

Kenneth Copeland — Overcoming The Spirit Of Fear

20 Jan

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland

Deuteronomy 20:1, 3-4
KJV—When thou goest out to battle against
thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots,
and a people more than thou, be not afraid of
them: for the Lord thy God is with thee, which
brought thee up out of the land of Egypt….
Let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not
tremble, neither be ye terrified because of
them; for the Lord your God is he that goeth
with you, to fight for you against your enemies,
to save you.

AMP—When you go forth to battle against
your enemies and see horses and chariots
and an army greater than your own, do not
be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, Who
brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with
you…. Let not your [minds and] hearts faint;
fear not, and do not tremble or be terrified
[and in dread] because of them. For the Lord
your God is He Who goes with you to fight for
you against your enemies to save you.

Moffatt—When you set out to make war upon
your enemies, and see war-horses and chariots
and an army larger than yourselves, you must
not be afraid of them, for the Eternal your God
who brought you out of the land of Egypt is on
your side…. Never lose heart, fear not, tremble
not, be not afraid of them, for the Eternal your
God goes with you, to fight for you against your
enemies and to give you the victory.

NIV—When you go to war against your enemies
and see horses and chariots and an army
greater than yours, do not be afraid of them,
because the Lord your God, who brought you
up out of Egypt, will be with you…. Do not be
fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give
way to panic before them. For the Lord your
God is the one who goes with you to fight for
you against your enemies to give you victory.

Psalm 91:5-6
KJV—Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by
night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor
for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor
for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

AMP—You shall not be afraid of the terror
of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots
and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor of the destruction and sudden death that
surprise and lay waste at noonday.

Moffatt—You need not fear the terrors of
the night, nor arrows flying in the day; you
need not fear plague stalking in the dark, nor
sudden death at noon.

NIV—You will not fear the terror of night, nor
the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence
that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that
destroys at midday.

Kenneth Copeland — Freedom From Fear

30 Dec

Kenneth And Gloria Copeland

2 Timothy 1:7
God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

If people knew how death operates, they
wouldn’t be so afraid to live. Jesus said that
the one who believes on Him will never see
death. We’ve passed from that place where
we will know any death.

Fear of death is an enemy to you. Fear
of any kind is an enemy. Fear will keep you
from walking in God’s delivering power. That’s
because God responds to faith. He does what
we believe for Him to do.

If we have fear of death, we’re living in fear.
As a result, we give God no faith to work with.
He intervenes in this earth through faith. Faith
is what causes the power of God to come upon
our bodies and heal us of sickness and disease.
If we believe His promises to secure our lives,
He secures our lives. Faith in God is what causes
His angels to go forth and to protect us in times
of trouble or times of danger.

The thing God says repeatedly in His Word
is, “Fear not.” Your deliverance is in fearing not
and believing God. Fear not. But have faith
in God.

People ruin their lives over the fear of
danger, when there is no danger for the
person who is inside God’s covenant of
salvation. The definition of the word salvation
includes “deliverance, preservation, material
and temporal deliverance from danger and
apprehension, or the fear of danger.”

Take on the attitude of the three young
Israelite men who were told to bow to a
foreign god or face a fiery furnace. They
replied, “We serve God and we believe that
He is able to deliver us out of your hand. Get
this straight, King, we’re not going to bow to
other gods.” Notice that attitude. They had
more fear of the Lord than they had fear
of death.

Why fear when you know angels have been
assigned to be ministers of God’s covenant
promises—including promises of protection?
You can hire bodyguards, but they’re not as
good as the angels. When you go to bed at
night, you ought to thank God for the angels
that encamp around about you to deliver you.
When you put your head down on the pillow at
night, you don’t have to be afraid somebody’s
going to break into your house. Use your faith
and believe God, thanking Him for the ministry
of angels on your behalf and that you have
protection. That’s part of your salvation. Enjoy
the rest of being free from fear as a covenant
child of God. It belongs to you.
